Bitcoin Merchant is ceasing operations for the foreseeable future. The platform is no longer accepting new signups, and hosted payment processing has been halted. While the door is not permanently closed, there is no timetable for a return.
Why the service is pausing
This decision follows a sustained wave of attacks and operational outages across the broader Bitcoin tooling stack that this service relied upon. These include disruptions affecting Boltz and the Liquid Network (which directly broke key integrations such as Aqua wallet), alongside serious security issues like the BTCPay Server macaroon vulnerability. Offering a reliable payment processing service is impossible without total confidence in the underlying infrastructure, and that level of certainty cannot be guaranteed at this time.
Zero customer impact and non-custodial safety
No active operations are disrupted, and there are no migration schedules or data export deadlines. Furthermore, Bitcoin Merchant was engineered from day one as a strictly non-custodial platform with hot wallets structurally disabled. The service never held customer private keys or merchant funds at any point, meaning no funds or customer records are at risk.
Self-hosting resources and general enquiries
